Women Build Sees Early Support

Last year at this time we were fully immersed in Women Build. So many amazing women (and men!) joined us to raise important funds and to build homes in Mission.

Together, we painted, installed floors, unpacked, and positioned appliances, installed bannisters and other fixtures, did electrical work, landscaping, and fencing. There was no shortage of tasks as we worked to ensure we could welcome new families by June.

Every donation and every volunteer hour made it possible for us to build affordably and efficiently. We laughed, we learned, and we made new and wonderful connections. To say that we are excited for Women Build 2023 would be an understatement.

While we do not yet have firm dates (waiting on permits for our Coquitlam project), we are thrilled to announce that we have garnered robust early support for the next Women Build. Leading the way, Wesco Distribution has committed to be our Presenting Sponsor! Also stepping up is Canadian Turner Construction who will be a Supporting Sponsor this year.

In recognition of the early and significant contribution, Wesco will have their logo etched on commemorative paving stones at both the Mission playground and our Coquitlam community once completed.

During Women Build 2022 we were thrilled to recognize a number of individual supporters in a distinct way. Each participant who raised more than $1000 earned themselves a pink hard hat. Participants who had already raised over $1000 in 2021 and did it again in 2022 earned an engraved paving stone. These were incorporated into the playground in Mission and will stand as a testament of their commitment to our cause. These impressive individuals are: Charlene Baumgartner, Kendra Edstrand, Skyler Edstrand, Lisa Janzen, Karnak Pro Builders, Yael, Maya & Tahlia, and Amanda and Shylah from So Luxury.

We cannot wait to break ground on our 42-unit project in Coquitlam and to begin serving more families in need of a hand-up.
